In 2019, our Secretary, Lynton travelled to Bacolod in the Philippines for an Immersion Experience. Since travelling, the club has kept in contact with the Bacolod communities through Lynton after we donated some old Sherrin footballs to the Good Samaritan Kinder School to be used in Physical Education classes for students in the community. This helps with the promotion of physical activity amongst the local children.
A few years ago, we got new guernseys made up for our teams and have been left with the old jumpers not getting used so late last year we began talking to Sister Anne Dixon in Bacolod about how the jumpers could be of benefit to the local community. Following these conversations, the club shipped the old jumpers to the Philippines and we are pleased to advise you that these have now arrived in Bacolod and the local community are very appreciative of the donation and the scholars were very happy to wear the Keon Park colours proudly! Fellow sister involved in the Good Sams Outreach Centre and Kinder School, Sister Grace Marcelo “extends her warmest regards to the club and the generous benefactors”. They “are all blessed and very grateful for everything that you do for us”. The club is more than happy to help those who are not as fortunate as us and are pleased to know these will be of great use to community members in the Philippines.
Pictured below are a few of the jumpers being worn by some of the scholars in Bacolod.
As a community club, we hold great pride in being able to help others through the connections that the club has locally, interstate and internationally. Despite the distance between Bacolod and Keon Park, the connection is still as strong as ever!
