Hello all Keon Park Stars JFC families,
The club hope you are all keeping well in these trying times. By now, we hope you have heard the unfortunate news that the NFNL Junior Season has been cancelled and the exciting news that our Under 13s team has been crowned the Premiers for U13 Green having finished top of the ladder. Although this is not the way we would like to win it, there was unfortunately no way of playing the rest of the season. Again, we wish to congratulate Brad and his team on an outstanding season. Well Done!
We have not forgotten about our players and holding an event to acknowledge the 2021 season for our three junior sides. The club is looking at a chance to acknowledge the achievements of our teams with our Presentation and AGM Day COVID depending on 5th of December (Venue, times etc TBC). This will also be a chance to get signed up for 2022 as well. More details will follow so stay tuned. This will give us some time past the proposed opening up date to hopefully be able to gather together to celebrate our sides 2021 seasons.
I would also wish to congratulate our Keon Park Stars JFC players who were acknowledged at the NFNL league awards. Congratulations to Michael Bellissimo who won the U13 Green Best and Fairest, Bailey Hockey and Jack Schembri also came 4th and 5th respectively in the vote count. The club also wishes to congratulate Noah Lucin from the Under 16s who was named as a finalist in the Lew Hall Award which recognises club and community leadership by a young person. We also wish to acknowledge Philip Martin, our Treasurer who was named as a finalist for the Volunteer of the Year Award for the entire league (seniors, juniors, netball). Finally, the club are pleased to announce that the club as a whole were announced as a finalist for the NFNL Junior Club of the Year. This is a big result and something that you should all be very proud of. Thank you for continuing to support us and contribute allowing the club to create the best environment for your children playing footy at Keon Park.
Looking towards 2022, we will be having 9/10s, 12s, 14s and looking at 17s, 19s. Based on this years numbers, the sides are looking good at this point in time but we will still need some players in each side. Please encourage your friends and families to come down to the Stars and join our great club! The NFNL will open registrations in November. I urge everyone to register early instead of leaving it to the last minute. We want the sides up and ready to start before we begin. In the past we are been trying to register people the week and even the day before the game. Let’s plan ahead early!
Finally, if there is any parent that is interested in helping our next season as a coach, assistant or Team Manager can you please get in contact with me. We are still seeking people for these positions and will be hoping to finalise these soon.
Thank you for the season we have had, let’s make next season bigger and better. Stay tuned on our pages, emails and communication from coaches for updates.
Thinking of you all,
Terry Brooks
